Key Component All TNS Teams Lack
There’s no doubt Tennessee’s professional sports teams have a few recognizable stars. Marcus Mariota, Jurrell Casey, Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Shea Weber, Pekka Rinne, you get the point. The Volunteer state has some stars we can enjoy, boast about, and support by wearing their jerseys.
Unfortunately, neither Tennessee team has found that ONE guy who is the answer to the statewide drought of major championships. One could argue that the answer in Music City could be Marcus Mariota. He’s had a phenomenonal rookie season on an otherwise catastrophic team. He has 2,026 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, with very little interceptions, and a passer rating of 65.3%. He’s in the top 15 when it comes to passer rating, ranked just ahead of first overall draft pick Jameis Winston.
What about Memphis? The Grizzlies sent one player to the NBA All-Star game last season and that guy is center Marc Gasol. The seven year vet averaged 17.4 points per game last season and averages just about 16 per game this season. Grizzlies have a few other stars as well, not to mention Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Tony Allen.
With all these stars on each team in Tennessee, why hasn’t this state experienced a major championship journey? Do you think you know why? Comment your answers on the following sites:
