It was tons of speculation and conflicting opinions leading up to Monday, but the Tennessee Titans ownership decided to go on the more popular route by firing General Manager Ruston Webster after four years. They also announced the promotion of Steve Underwood, removing the interim tag off of his name and naming him the permanent President and CEO of the organization.
That’s positive movement by the organization. Especially due to the fact that Tennessee’s 18-46 record during Webster’s tenure is tied for the second worst in the NFL.
Searching for new General Manager
According to NFL Network, every single general manager available said the Titans were appealing, however the Cleveland Browns aren’t. CEO Underwood said there are 14 General Managers currently as finalists for the Titans role, and the main focus is to give the franchise, Marcus Mariota, some weapons.
Searching for new Head Coach
The Tennessee Titans will soon begin the search for a new head coach, and Mike Mularkey, who served as interim head coach for part of 2015, will be apart of that process. The Titans wasn’t a popular option for available head coaches, but today’s moves might change that. It’ll be interesting to see if the Titans decide to keep assistant coach/defense Dick Lebeau around after getting the head coach and general manager sealed.
It’s going to be an interesting 2016 for the Tennessee Titans and other Tennessee Sports teams. Make sure you follow Tennessee Sports on Twitter for LIVE and QUICK updates right when they happen!
