Game-by-Game predictions for Predators/Sharks series.

What a series that was, right? I’ll admit that I believed Nashville was going to sweep the Ducks after starting the series 2-0, but the Ducks bounced back and took a 3-2 series lead. Eventually, Nashville won two of their own to seal the deal.

Before the series, no one had Nashville going to the second round. I guess it’s safe to say the Predators are yet another middle Tennessee team to bust everyone’s brackets.

The question now is: Can the Predators advance past the second round for the first time in franchise history? Here are my predictions for Nashville-Sharks series, which begins   Friday at 9:30pm/ct.

Nashville vs San Jose Round 2 NHL Playoffs

Game 1: Nashville @ San Jose

The Predators are coming off a competitive and physical game versus the Ducks on Wednesday night, and now, as far as the NHL playoff schedule is concerned, they’re expected to turn around and face the Sharks on Friday. The Predators might be a little worn out in this one.

Final Score: NSH 1 SJS 3

Game 2: Nashville @ San Jose

The Predators mindset will finally be shifted in this one. Having rested on Thursday then on Saturday, they’ve received enough time to get over the series with the Ducks and fully into their series with the Sharks. Expect some key goals from Shea Weber and Ryan Johansen in this one.

Final Score: NSH 2 SJS 1

Game 3: San Jose @ Nashville

They return home with the series tied at one, and Smashville is still pretty fired up following their series win over the Ducks. Bridgestone Arena will be covered in yellow in support of their Predators. The boys will feed off the energy in the arena, of course.

Final Score: NSH 4 SJS 2

Game 4: San Jose @ Nashville

Nashville lead the series 2-1, so San Jose will be looking for redemption in this one. Pekka Rinne will have one of his unlucky games of the series, and unfortunately that will lead to a Predators loss.

Final Score: NSH 1 SJS 3

Game 5: Nashville @ San Jose

Back in California, the Sharks are now the team with the momentum as the Predators are on their usual slump, but the Predators kick it back into gear to avoid another series down 3-2.

Final Score: NSH 3 SJS 2 F/OT

Game 6: San Jose @ Nashville

It won’t be another game seven for Nashville. In this game, they’re at home and they are ready to charge their way into round three. The fans come in support of their team to help cheer them on to the next round, and the game is just intense as you would think. These two teams will spend the last two periods tied at two before the Predators score late in the third and hold off the Sharks to advance to round three for the first time in franchise history.

Final Score: NSH 3 SJS 2

Series Final: Predators take series 4-2.

You might’ve expected that a Tennessee Sports page would obviously predict their home team to win, but this isn’t as biased as it seem. The Predators are a team that could definitely make it to round three, and if anything stops them, it would be themselves. Their inconsistency has been a dagger for them. Keeping Pekka Rinne at the top of his game would be the difference between being eliminated by the Sharks, or making it to the Western Conference Finals.
